Fier d’un parcours musical déjà très riche et diversifié qui a débuté dans les années ’90, c’est le réalisateur et collaborateur Mike Dubue (HILOTRONS) qui lui a proposé de choisir une chanson francophone en vue d’en faire une reprise et ainsi se dévoiler à titre de chanteur : « Le vent m’appelle par mon prénom, de Marie-Pierre Arthur, m’a toujours interpelé. La version de Marie-Pierre est pleine d’énergie, d’arrangements accrocheurs/dynamiques et sa voix y est sublime. J’ai d’abord fait une démo de la chanson sur un synthétiseur Moog Grandmother, en chantant une octave plus grave que Marie-Pierre. Puis, au lieu des guitares, de la basse et de la caisse claire dramatique, nous avons opté pour une atmosphère plus électro, avec des synthés analogiques et un rythme sec et funky. Il y a aussi un aspect polyrythmique dans notre version; Mike a joué de la batterie sur un rythme 4/4, malgré que la chanson soit en 3/4. Cela donne une superposition de deux rythmes qui se décalent constamment au cours de la chanson.»

Carrière : ''The producer for this track, Mike Dubue, suggested I consider covering a French song. Marie-Pierre Arthur’s ‘Le vent m’appelle par mon prénom’, from her eponomous debut album, always stood out to me. I kept going back to it over the years. It’s fresh and energetic, well orchestrated and her voice is sublime.'' He demoed the song using the Moog Grandmother synthesizer, singing the song a full octave below Marie-Pierre, alluding to her higher register only in the outro of his version. It was in working on this cover that he realized what a strong singer Marie-Pierre is : ''She really makes it seem effortless.''

For this version, Carrière and Dubue went in a new direction in terms of instrumentation. Instead of the jangly acoustic guitars, bass and dramatic snare drum rolls of the original version, they crafted a more synthy, tight and polyrhythmic feel. Mike plays a 4/4 drum beat against the inherent 3/4 timing of the song’s structure, creating overlapping rhythms that are constantly being offset from one another. This creates a jarring and funky complexity to the rhythm.
